Makarska region signs agreement for Juraj Bonači Center reconstruction

The city of Makarska and the municipalities of Brela, Baška Voda, Tučepi, Podgora, and Gradac have signed a co-financing agreement to reconstruct the Juraj Bonači Center for Education and Training. The project, valued at 671,000 euros, will repurpose the former Church of the Queen of Peace, a building leased from the Split-Makarska Archdiocese. The renovation aims to expand social services, specifically providing early developmental, psychosocial, and school-age support to the Makarska Riviera region.

Construction will be carried out by the Split-based company DELTRON d. o. o. Local officials emphasized that the project addresses a long-standing need for accessible, professional social services that transcend administrative boundaries.

Separately, Makarska has reached the finals of the 'Best City' competition in the category of education, demography, and youth. The city is recognized for its significant budget allocations toward social policy and education, as well as local initiatives such as subsidies for medically assisted fertilization and newborn benefits.
