Makarska Riviera ranks among Europe's top design spots as Japanese travelers favor Spain

A Furniture Village study placed Croatia's Makarska Riviera in eighth place on a list of the ten best European destinations for design‑focused holidays, noting its use of natural Dalmatian stone, wooden shutters, bright nautical tones and a blend of traditional and contemporary Mediterranean style. The ranking puts the Riviera alongside Paris, London, Ibiza and Mykonos.

Separately, a report by Amadeus and the UN World Tourism Organization shows European tourism remaining stable in early 2026, with over 130 million international visitors in the first quarter. Japanese travelers drove a 19 % increase in bookings, making Europe their top outbound market. Spain emerged as the most sought‑after destination, while the Czech Republic recorded the fastest year‑on‑year growth among European markets.
