Makassar Leadership Summit 2026 gathers 500 leaders

The Makassar Leadership Summit (MLS) 2026 was held at the Claro Hotel Makassar, bringing together over 500 leaders and professionals from nine different industrial sectors. The forum, organized by the Human Resource Management Association (PMSM) Indonesia, the National Movement of Competent Indonesians (GNIK), and the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), focused on the theme “The Future of Leadership Starts Here.”

Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla delivered a keynote speech titled “Leading from the East.” He emphasized that leadership should be grounded in Bugis cultural values: Macca (intelligence/vision), Warani (bravery), Getteng (firmness/consistency), and Malempu (honesty). Kalla noted that these values are essential for navigating modern challenges, including technological advancements and global uncertainty.

In addition to cultural values, the summit addressed the necessity of AI-ready leadership, sustainability, and inclusive management styles to prepare for future organizational demands.
