Makassar legislator calls for closure of RSIA Paramount
A legislator from the Makassar City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) is calling for the closure of RSIA Paramount following allegations of medical negligence. The demand follows a hearing regarding the death of an infant who passed away on August 13, 2026, approximately three days after being delivered via cesarean section at the hospital.
During a hearing involving the Makassar City Health Office and the Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI), Commission D member dr. Udin Saputra Malik urged health authorities to provide a definitive explanation regarding whether negligence occurred. He stated that if investigations confirm negligence, legal and administrative consequences, including the revocation of operating permits, must be enforced without negotiation.
The victim's grandfather, Taufan Pawe, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, has also requested the permanent closure of the facility. Beyond the specific case of the infant's death, officials raised concerns regarding hospital facilities, including medical staff oversight and elevator functionality.
