Makassar Mayor receives disaster management award from Indonesian Minister

Makassar Mayor Munafri Arifuddin was awarded a certificate of appreciation by Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf for his dedication to disaster management. The recognition covers the full spectrum of disaster response, including pre-disaster preparedness, emergency response, and post-disaster recovery.

The award was presented during the Taruna Siaga Bencana (Tagana) Santiaji Roll Call, which served as the peak of the South Sulawesi Tagana Jamboree. The event, organized by the South Sulawesi Provincial Social Services, was attended by South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, various regional heads, and Tagana volunteers.

Minister Saifullah Yusuf emphasized that the ceremony aimed to boost motivation and strengthen collaboration in disaster mitigation. He described Tagana volunteers as a vital social force essential for humanitarian tasks, community recovery, and building regional preparedness.
