Make-A-Wish and Disney launch initiatives for children with critical illnesses
Make-A-Wish organizations in Canada and the United Kingdom have launched new initiatives to support children facing critical illnesses.
In Canada, Make-A-Wish Canada has unveiled a new film series as part of its ‘Wishes Are Medicine’ platform. The campaign aims to demonstrate that granting wishes is an essential component of a child’s medical treatment journey rather than just a luxury. The series features stories from wish alumni, such as Damien, who experienced a paleontologist-themed wish at the Royal Ontario Museum while undergoing cancer treatment.
In the UK and Ireland, Disney and Make-A-Wish UK celebrated a milestone of 1,000 wishes granted through the ‘A Disney Wish’ program. This initiative provides accessible Disney-themed experiences for families who face medical or physical barriers to traveling to Disney Parks. Recent events included a multi-day experience at Wotton House in Surrey for nearly 200 families and a group wish experience for families in Cork, Ireland, involving the Disney Dream cruise ship.
