MakeSpace North Park founder to speak at TEDxVictoria
Jenny Farkas, founder and executive director of MakeSpace North Park, is set to present at TEDxVictoria regarding the importance of tool access and mentorship. The community hub in Victoria has grown to approximately 150 members since its opening last year.
Early user data indicates a trend toward inclusion, with more than 70 per cent of early users identifying as women or gender-diverse. Additionally, about 75 per cent of the membership reaches the facility on foot. Farkas suggests that the economic challenges on Vancouver Island are linked to unequal access to creative infrastructure and community pathways rather than a lack of talent.
