Makhachev manager denies rumors of Carlos Prates fight

Rizvan Magomedov, manager for Islam Makhachev, has dismissed reports regarding an imminent welterweight title defense against Carlos Prates. Speaking to the Russian outlet Ushatayka, Magomedov stated that while negotiations are ongoing, a confirmed matchup is “far from realistic” at this time.

Makhachev previously indicated a desire to fight before Ramadan, which has led to speculation regarding a potential appearance at UFC 336 in Toronto on January 30. While Makhachev has expressed a preference for Prates over other contenders like Michael Morales, no official date or opponent has been finalized.
