MAKIDAI discusses the importance of aerial disaster investigation
EXILE member and certified disaster prevention specialist MAKIDAI visited Chofu Airfield to discuss the critical role of aerial disaster investigation. In a series of discussions with Kokusai Kogyo professionals, the importance of rapid aerial surveying following major events, such as the Kumamoto earthquake, was highlighted.
Kokusai Kogyo utilizes specialized aircraft equipped with high-precision digital cameras and aerial laser measurement tools to capture extensive photographic data of disaster zones. This data is used to assess damage, support rescue operations, and provide essential documentation for local governments and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to facilitate reconstruction efforts.
The discussion also touched upon the concept of ‘phase-free’ disaster prevention, which encourages using everyday items, such as large mobile batteries, to serve as emergency power sources, bridging the gap between daily life and disaster preparedness.
