Greece U21 squad announced for final EURO 2027 qualifiers

Giannis Taousianis has announced the 25-man squad for the Greece U21 national team ahead of their final three matches in the EURO U21 2027 qualifying group. The team aims for three consecutive wins to secure a direct qualification spot as one of the best second-placed teams. The upcoming schedule includes an away match against Georgia on September 26, a home game against Latvia on October 1, and an away match against Northern Ireland on October 6.

Notable inclusions in the squad are Sotirios Kontouris, Erik Hamza, and Anestis Mythou, while Botis and Rallis have been left out due to limited playing time this season. Greece currently shares the top of Group 9 with Germany but trails on tiebreakers.

Separately, during a UEFA tribute marking the 100th anniversary of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), President Makis Gagatsis discussed the future of Greek football. He emphasized the need for better organization, infrastructure investment, and the development of young talent through programs like ‘Anagennisi’ to ensure the national teams can consistently compete at the highest European levels.
