Makkah Deputy Governor launches Tamkeen initiative

Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah region, has inaugurated the ‘Tamkeen’ initiative. Implemented by the Makkah branch of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the program aims to enhance the economic and social empowerment of social welfare beneficiaries.

The initiative focuses on developing vocational and professional skills to transition individuals from welfare dependency to productive economic participation. Target groups include social security beneficiaries, orphans, and capable persons with disabilities, as well as community hobbyists. The program provides a developmental ecosystem including vocational training, support for artisanal projects, and marketing outlets.

Over the next three years, the initiative aims to empower 1,800 beneficiaries, support 1,000 artisanal projects, conduct 120 specialized training courses, and establish 30 cooperation agreements. The project also seeks to preserve traditional crafts by linking them to modern production and marketing opportunities, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
