Makkah environmental branch hosts workshop on Mesquite tree management

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in the Makkah region organized a specialized awareness workshop regarding Mesquite trees (Prosopis juliflora). Held in collaboration with the Bahra Governorate, the workshop addressed the transition of the species from a drought-tolerant plant to an environmental challenge requiring scientific management.

Participants discussed the ecological characteristics of Mesquite, its ability to adapt to arid conditions, and the environmental risks posed by its unregulated spread. The sessions focused on integrated scientific management methods to protect natural resources and vegetation cover.

This initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, specifically targeting the fight against desertification and the preservation of local ecosystems.
