Maklmor to donate $1 million to Palestinian aid groups

Rapper Maklmor has pledged to donate $1 million in net proceeds from Ed Sheeran’s ‘Loop’ tour to Palestinian humanitarian organizations. The donation follows Maklmor’s removal from the tour after making pro-Palestinian comments during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The funds will be distributed among six organizations, including Medical Aid for Palestinians, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, UNRWA, and Anera. Leaders of these organizations expressed gratitude, noting that the donation provides both financial support and increased public awareness regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

In response to the controversy, Ed Sheeran addressed his audience during a concert in Philadelphia. Sheeran stated that he had to make “difficult decisions” and expressed regret over the situation, noting that he found himself in the middle of a passionate debate regarding freedom of speech and complex political issues. He emphasized his desire to maintain his concerts as a safe space for all fans while fulfilling his professional obligations.
