Makoto Mitsui-dera discusses challenges after five consecutive J1 starts
Yokohama F. Marinos midfielder Makoto Mitsui-dera has reflected on his recent performances after starting five consecutive matches in the J1 League. Following a match against Kyoto Sanga F.C. on September 2, where he was substituted in the 55th minute, the 16-year-old identified several areas for improvement.
Mitsui-dera noted that his ability to activate the left side of the pitch was limited during the match and acknowledged that opponents are increasingly marking him more strictly as he gains experience. He also highlighted physical stamina as a challenge, particularly when playing through a dense schedule of matches.
Despite these hurdles, the young player expressed a positive outlook, stating that facing challenges is part of the enjoyment of football. He emphasized that he does not wish to be a finished player at his age and is focused on training to increase his intensity and ability to play full 90-minute matches.
