Makoto Yukimura confirms Vinland Saga Season 3 is not in production

Makoto Yukimura, the creator of the manga Vinland Saga, has confirmed that a third season of the anime adaptation is not currently in production. Addressing fan inquiries on social media, Yukimura stated, “I have no good news about that. The project is not currently in progress.”

While the update does not imply the series has been cancelled or shelved, it clarifies that no official production has begun. This follows years of speculation after the second season concluded in June 2023. Previous rumors regarding a continuation were fueled by celebratory artwork from staff members, but these were later clarified as unofficial.

The anime adaptation was originally produced by WIT Studio for its first season in 2019, with MAPPA taking over animation production for the second season in 2023. No official timeline for a potential return has been provided by the author, the publisher Kodansha, or the animation studios.
