Maks Chmerkovskiy supports brother Val following DWTS suspension

Maks Chmerkovskiy has expressed his support for his brother, Val Chmerkovskiy, following Val’s one-episode suspension from ‘Dancing With the Stars’. The suspension occurred after Val made a controversial social media comment directed at judge Carrie Ann Inaba regarding a critique of a previous performance.

Speaking at the Dancers Against Cancer’s Gala of the Stars in Los Angeles, Maks stated that he stands by his brother, noting that Val is capable of handling the situation himself. He emphasized that the controversy does not change his feelings toward his brother.

During the suspension, Alan Bersten stepped in to dance with Val’s partner, Jenna Dewan, for the show’s Dedication Night. Bersten performed a Viennese waltz that earned Dewan her first perfect score of the season. Bersten noted that he had been in communication with Val during the preparation for the routine.
