Maksut Aslan establishes modern livestock facility in Van

Maksut Aslan and his siblings have established a modern livestock facility in the Gürpınar district of Van, Turkey, after transitioning from manual labor to large-scale agricultural production.

After migrating from Beytüşşebap in 1993, the family initially struggled financially, working as dishwashers in local restaurants to cover basic needs. Over time, they expanded into animal trading and construction, eventually operating two restaurants and a butcher shop. To secure their own meat supply and increase production, the family applied for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Rural Development Investment Support Program.

Having received a 50 percent grant, Aslan constructed a modern facility on 900 acres in Çavuştepe Neighborhood. The site has a capacity for 1,500 small ruminants and currently manages 910 animals using technological advancements, including automatic irrigation and modern feeding systems. The facility includes a barn, a two-story caretaker's house, and a feed warehouse, providing employment for four people.
