Makueni County partners with Laerdal Global Health to improve maternal and newborn care

Makueni County in Kenya has entered a partnership with Laerdal Global Health, a Tanzania‑based non‑governmental organization, to strengthen emergency response during childbirth. The collaboration focuses on the Safer Births Bundle of Care (SBBC) programme, which will equip frontline health workers with clinical tools such as the Moyo fetal heart‑rate monitor, NeoBeat newborn heart‑rate meter, and Upright and Penguin devices for newborn support.

County Health Services Executive Committee member Joyce Mutua officially closed a six‑day training for maternal and newborn health experts at the Mother and Child Hospital, noting that the initiative will help reduce maternal and neonatal deaths and complement other interventions by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.'s administration.
