Makueni police investigate recovery of human leg belonging to missing woman

Police in Makueni County are investigating the death of 49-year-old Ann Mulwa after a human leg was recovered in Kathukuni Village, Kasikeu, on August 30, 2026. The remains are believed to belong to Mulwa, who had been reported missing on August 3, 2026.

Mulwa, who was described as being of unsound mind, had been missing for several weeks. The recovered leg was identified by her brother-in-law, who recognized the clothing the deceased was wearing. Authorities believe other parts of the body may have been consumed by wild animals. The remains have been taken to the Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
