Makutano Mining forum to launch in Kinshasa to drive African industrialization
The Makutano Network has announced the inaugural Makutano Mining forum, scheduled to take place in Kinshasa from November 22 to 25, 2026. This pan-African event is dedicated to the industrialization of producer nations and the financing of mining projects.
Under the patronage of DRC President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the forum is expected to host various stakeholders, including public officials, mining executives, investors, and financial institutions. Notable attendees include Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama. The initiative aims to accelerate local value creation by bringing together the entire value chain, including energy providers and development institutions.
The forum will feature a ‘Makutano Mining Deal Room’ for private negotiations and a ‘Signature Moment’ to highlight concluded agreements. Key discussion topics include mining taxation, transport corridors, electricity, ESG standards, artisanal mining, employment, and innovation. The event seeks to shift mining discussions toward resource-holding countries to better address local transformation, infrastructure, and industrial partnerships.
