Malacañang suspends government work on Sept. 28 for National Family Week
Malacañang has ordered a half-day suspension of work in government offices on September 28, 2026, to observe the 34th National Family Week and ‘Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga’ Day. Under Memorandum Circular No. 136, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, work in all agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government will cease starting at 1:00 p.m.
The suspension applies to all Executive branch agencies, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs). The initiative aims to provide employees with time to bond with their families through shared meals.
Agencies responsible for essential services, including health services, disaster preparedness, and calamity response, are required to maintain operations to ensure the continuous delivery of vital services. The order also encourages other branches of government and the private sector to support the observance organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.
