Malachi Lawrence expected to see increased playing time for Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has indicated that rookie first-round pick Malachi Lawrence will see an increase in playing time. The decision comes as the Cowboys' defense struggles with a lack of pass rush, having recorded only five sacks so far this season.
Lawrence, a former UCF standout, has played approximately 35% of the team’s defensive snaps this year. He recently recorded his first career NFL sack during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lawrence expressed growing confidence in his ability to compete against high-level talent, stating, “If I can beat an All-Pro, I can beat anybody.”
The team looks to Lawrence to provide a spark alongside veterans such as Rashan Gary and Von Miller as they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
