Maladinov urges Israel to allow technocratic committee and international force into Gaza
Nikolai Maladinov, the High Representative for the Peace Council in Gaza, has called on Israel to immediately allow the entry of a Palestinian technocratic committee and an international stability force into the Gaza Strip. This demand aligns with the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a letter to Yoram Haliwi, Israel's coordinator of government activities in the Palestinian territories, Maladinov responded to the suspension of goods entering Gaza via private traders. He warned that halting private sector imports could lead to similar pressures on humanitarian aid delivered by the UN and international organizations. Maladinov noted that resolving these issues is not possible while Hamas maintains control of the territory.
He proposed a pilot program in a limited area of Rafah, currently under Israeli military control and without a Hamas presence, to allow the technocratic committee and stability force to begin operations. The goal of the subsequent phase would be to facilitate the disarmament of Hamas and the transfer of administrative control to the committee. Maladinov also urged the Israeli government to cooperate with the Peace Council to develop new plans for regulating goods supplies and addressing the humanitarian crisis, specifically regarding temporary housing.
