Malaga closes major avenue for Car Free Day
Malaga is observing Car Free Day as part of European Mobility Week, which runs from September 16 to 22. As part of the initiative, the Paseo del Parque, one of the city’s busiest avenues, was closed to motor traffic on Sunday, September 20, between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm.
The event aims to promote sustainable transport and intergenerational fairness. Activities organized by the Malaga City Council, Local Police, Civil Protection, and the local transport operator EMT include bicycle repair workshops, CPR and defibrillator training, and exhibitions of historical and current buses. The closure required drivers to reroute through parallel streets and prompted temporary adjustments to several EMT bus lines.
