Malaga fishermen halt operations due to high costs and low prices

Fishermen in Malaga, Spain, have announced a voluntary suspension of fishing activities due to declining profitability. The crew of the Dolores Lazo reported that the high costs of fuel and operation, combined with extremely low market prices for fish, have made it financially impossible to continue working.

According to the crew, certain products like anchovies are being sold at auction prices as low as 30 to 40 cents per kilo. The decision to stop fishing is described as a temporary measure that will remain in place until market conditions change and the activity becomes profitable again.
