Malaga seniors enjoy free summer activities under Siempre Acompañados programme

The "Siempre Acompañados" programme, launched by the la Caixa foundation in partnership with Malaga city council and the Red Cross, offers free summer activities for residents aged 60 and over. In Malaga, the initiative serves 288 seniors in the Bailén‑Miraflores and Puerto de la Torre districts, providing cultural outings such as visits to the Picasso Museum, Carmen Thyssen Museum and Pompidou, as well as leisure options like boat trips, karaoke, film screenings and guided city‑bus tours. Health‑focused workshops cover CPR training, sleep hygiene, medication safety, pelvic‑floor strengthening and emotional‑skincare, while yoga, dance and laughter therapy encourage active aging.

The programme aims to reduce summer‑time loneliness and isolation among older adults, a risk heightened when municipal services and social venues close for holidays. Across Spain, "Siempre Acompañados" reached more than 3,600 seniors in 2025, coordinating with local authorities and volunteer networks to foster community bonds and personal well‑being.
