Malang authorities investigate alleged violence by former school principal

The East Java Regional Police are investigating allegations of violence committed by the former principal of SMP Negeri 18 Kota Malang, identified by the initials MAH. Police are currently working with the Malang City Police to identify the total number of potential victims and determine if other criminal acts occurred.

While two victims have specifically reported physical abuse, legal counsel for the victims states that eight students have reported allegations of violence to the police. In response, the Malang City Government has revoked MAH’s position as principal; he currently holds a non-active teaching status with no instructional authority.

To support the affected students, the Malang City Government is deploying trauma healing services through the local Social Services and the Department of Health. Mayor Wahyu Hidayat stated that these agencies will visit the homes of students experiencing pressure or trauma to ensure they receive protection and can return to normal activities.
