Malang marks fourth anniversary of Kanjuruhan Stadium tragedy

On October 1, 2026, residents and supporters in Malang marked the fourth anniversary of the Kanjuruhan Stadium tragedy. The commemorations included both spiritual observances and calls for legal accountability.

Arema FC management and Aremania supporters organized religious activities, including prayers, tahlil, and Quran recitations. A large prayer gathering titled ‘Doa Untukmu Nawak’ was held at the Kanjuruhan Stadium grounds in Kepanjen, Malang Regency. Arema FC staff also held a solemn memorial at the club's management office.

Simultaneously, demonstrators gathered at the Tugu Square roundabout in Malang to demand justice for the 135 victims. Protesters expressed dissatisfaction with previous legal outcomes, describing the two-year sentences handed to six suspects as insufficient. They continue to call for the identification and prosecution of those responsible for the use of tear gas during the 2022 incident.
