Malang Regency Police destroy suspected cockfighting gambling arena

Police in Malang Regency have dismantled and destroyed facilities used for suspected cockfighting gambling in Sidorejo Village, Pagelaran District. The operation, conducted on Sunday night, September 6, 2026, was carried out by a joint team from the Pagelaran Police Sector and the Malang Regency Police Criminal Investigation Unit following reports from local residents.

Authorities dismantled and destroyed the equipment on-site to prevent the location from being reused for illegal gambling activities that disturb community security and comfort. AKP M Budiono, Head of Public Relations for the Malang Regency Police, stated that the action was a direct response to community information.

Initial investigations suggest the gambling activities did not follow a fixed schedule and occurred sporadically when parties intended to hold matches. While the site was found empty during a follow-up check at 10:00 PM, police are continuing their investigation into those suspected of organizing or participating in the activities. Law enforcement has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any further suspicious activity in the area.
