Malatya Chamber of Commerce launches trade fairs and faces election disputes

The Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO) is launching a 'Sectoral Fairs' project to revitalize local trade following the earthquake. MTSO Chairman and presidential candidate Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu stated the initiative aims to connect members with new markets and potential buyers through B2B meetings and direct business connections, rather than just exhibiting products.

Simultaneously, the MTSO presidential election process has faced legal challenges. Candidate Mahmut Boyraz has appealed to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) regarding the accuracy of member lists, changes in professional groups, and the scheduled election date. Boyraz expressed concerns that approximately 4,300 members might be unable to vote and argued that changes to NACE codes could impact future public support for firms.

In related regional developments, Ramazan Özcan, President of the Malatya Commodity Exchange, highlighted investments by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), including educational facilities, earthquake housing, and a large-scale licensed warehouse. Additionally, Sadıkoğlu issued a message for Ahilik Week, emphasizing the importance of professional ethics and solidarity in the city's economic reconstruction.
