Malatya farmers expand production to strawberries
In the Doğanşehir district of Malatya, Emine Sibel and Hüseyin Dulkadir, who have produced blackberries for eight years, have successfully expanded into strawberry cultivation. After planting seedlings in mid-June on approximately 10 decares of rented land, the couple began harvesting fruit only one month later.
The high yield and quality of the strawberries have led to significant demand, making it difficult for the family to keep up with orders. Due to this success, the couple is looking to expand their production areas. The Doğanşehir Municipality has also initiated efforts to seek official registration for the strawberries grown in the Sürgü neighborhood.
