Malatya Mayor announces urban transformation for several neighborhoods
Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami Er has announced expanded urban transformation plans to aid the city's recovery following major earthquakes. The municipality will take direct responsibility for transforming the Beylerbaşı, Şehit Fevzi, and Taştepe neighborhoods, specifically targeting areas that were not designated as official reserve zones.
In addition to residential reconstruction, the transformation efforts include the development of social facilities, sports complexes, and infrastructure. Er noted that 125,000 independent housing units have already been built in the region. Other major projects include the redevelopment of the Çavuşoğlu Industrial Site and the creation of new work areas near the Altay Barracks.
Separately, the 14th Malatya Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Fair was held after a seven-year hiatus. Mayor Er visited the event, stating that the fair is a vital component of the city's economic and agricultural revitalization and promising a larger-scale event for the following year.
