Malatya Mayor presents reconstruction and rail projects to President Erdoğan

Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami Er met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and various ministry officials in Ankara to discuss the city’s reconstruction following recent earthquake damage. Key topics included urban transformation, housing and workplace projects managed by TOKİ, and a proposed rail system project for which feasibility studies have been completed.

Er also held meetings with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Ministry of Health to address infrastructure needs and urban planning. The goal of these high-level contacts is to secure central government support to transform Malatya into a more resilient and modern urban center.

In response to these meetings, İYİ Party Malatya Provincial Chairman Serdar Yıldız criticized the brevity of the discussion with the President. Yıldız argued that the city’s complex issues regarding transportation, infrastructure, and economic development cannot be addressed in a brief encounter, suggesting that Malatya deserves more comprehensive representation similar to other earthquake-affected provinces.
