Malatya mayor launches free education program for 2,500 students

Mayor Sami Er of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality announced that the city’s free‑education initiative will continue into the 2026‑2027 school year. The program, run through the municipality’s Semt Konakları and Education Centres, offers academic tutoring, LGS preparation, scholarship exam coaching and guidance services at no cost.

A selection exam held at the Kernek Vahap Küçük Külliyesi and several neighbourhoods attracted 2,500 elementary‑school pupils (grades 4‑7). Of those, 1,080 candidates were examined in four sessions, after which successful students were placed in the free courses. The mayor visited the test site, wishing participants “Allah kolaylık versin, başarılar diliyorum” and encouraging them to join the municipal courses.

The initiative aims to promote equal educational opportunities, improve academic performance and develop social skills among participating youth.
