Malawi and Angola face off in high-stakes AFCON qualifier

Malawi and Angola are set to face each other at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, for a high-stakes 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Malawi enters the match with momentum following a 2-1 victory over South Sudan in their opening Group B fixture. Head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has bolstered his 24-member squad with the inclusion of Amos Sande, Robert Saizi, and Chawanangwa Gumbo. A win would bring Malawi to six points, potentially placing them at the top of the group.

Angola currently sits on one point after a 0-0 draw against Egypt in their qualifying opener. While Angola holds a slight historical advantage with five wins in their last ten meetings against Malawi, the Flames are looking to secure their first AFCON appearance since 2021.
