Malawi coach Fazili sidelined from World Cup due to licensing issue

Lovemore Fazili, the head coach who led Malawi’s Scorchers to qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, will be unable to serve in the dugout during the tournament. Football Association of Malawi president Fleetwood Haiya confirmed that Fazili lacks the required CAF A coaching licence to lead the team from the sidelines.

While Fazili will not be the head coach on the touchline, Haiya stated he will remain part of the technical panel in a different capacity. To address the licensing issue, the Football Association of Malawi plans to run a CAF A coaching course between November and December this year, which Fazili is expected to attend.
