Malawi football: Mighty Wanderers reclaim top spot in Premiership

The race for the top of the Malawi FDH Bank Premiership remains highly competitive as the first round of the season enters its final week. Mighty Wanderers reclaimed the summit of the table following a 2-1 victory over Red Lions, moving to 29 points from 14 matches. They currently hold a one-point lead over Silver Strikers, who possess a game in hand that could determine the leader heading into the second half of the campaign.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets also remain in contention. The reigning champions are scheduled to face Luanar Mitundu Football Club, while the Bullets Reserves aim to move to the top of the SRFA FINCA Division One standings. The Reserves, currently in second place with 25 points, face Ntopwa FC in a match that could see them overtake leaders Ekhaya Reserves.

In the Division One circuit, Bullets Reserves enter their upcoming fixture on a six-game winning streak. Assistant coach Gift Nyirenda noted that recent training has focused on improving finishing efficiency to convert the high volume of chances created by the squad.
