Malawi Queens netball team returns home after Glasgow Commonwealth Games

The Malawi Queens netball team concluded the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a seventh‑place finish, achieving their target of a top‑seven result. The squad recorded three wins out of six matches, defeating Scotland, Northern Ireland and Tonga, and delivered competitive performances against higher‑ranked opponents.

The team flew back to Lilongwe on Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET877, arriving at Kamuzu International Airport on the same day. Sponsor Nico Group praised the campaign, noting the progress of the rebuilding programme and the players' courage, resilience and tactical maturity. NAM president Vitumbiko Gubuduza thanked the sponsor for funding the training camp and player allowances. The association now turns its focus to the Netball World Cup Qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya, scheduled for next month.
