Malayan tiger sightings in Perak and Fraser’s Hill prompt wildlife monitoring

Wildlife authorities in Malaysia are monitoring Malayan tiger sightings in Perak and near Fraser’s Hill. In Perak, Perhilitan director Dr. Pazil Abdul Patah stated that tigers will only be captured or relocated if they pose a “clear and continuing” threat to public safety, based on technical field assessments of behavior and proximity to human settlements.

Following reports of a tiger roaming near the roadside between Fraser’s Hill and Kuala Kubu Bharu, Perhilitan has deployed a team to the area. Officers have installed four camera traps to track the animal's movements after sightings were reported by hikers and motorists. Authorities have advised the public to remain cautious, avoid approaching the animals, and report sightings immediately.
