Malaysia Airlines announces Asia-Pacific network expansion

Malaysia Airlines and its parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), have announced a series of network expansions and capacity increases across the Asia-Pacific region as part of a long-term business plan.

Key service enhancements include increasing flights between Kuala Lumpur and Brisbane to daily services starting October 25, 2026, utilizing the new-generation Airbus A330neo. Other route updates include increasing frequencies to Fukuoka and Surabaya, and the return of the Kuala Lumpur–Busan service starting December 2, 2026, after nearly three decades. Additionally, Firefly is set to launch its first China route to Kunming.

To support this growth, MAG is developing a new in-flight catering facility near Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Groundwork for the facility began in July 2026, with a target completion in the fourth quarter of 2028. Once operational in 2029, the facility is expected to produce approximately 50,000 meals daily, doubling current handling capacity.
