Malaysia Airlines resumes direct flights to Busan and Fukuoka

Malaysia Airlines is expanding its regional network by resuming direct services to key Japanese and South Korean cities.

In Japan, the airline has restarted direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka as of September 2, 2026, following a 20-year absence. The route currently operates five times weekly using a Boeing 737-8, with plans to increase frequency to daily flights during the winter season from December 2026 to March 2027. This service is supported by a joint business partnership with Japan Airlines, allowing for seamless connections to various Japanese regional destinations.

In South Korea, Malaysia Airlines will resume direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Busan starting December 2, 2026. This marks the return of the route after 28 years. The service will operate four times weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. As the only carrier offering non-stop service between these cities, the airline aims to reduce travel time to approximately five hours.
