Malaysia allocates RM668 million for 1,780 new classrooms

Malaysia is implementing 524 projects to construct 1,780 additional classrooms across 459 schools nationwide to accommodate the increase in Year One student enrollment for the 2027 school session. The initiative involves a total allocation of RM668 million and utilizes the Industrialised Building System (IBS) method to accelerate construction timelines.

Of the total classrooms, 1,255 are primary classrooms and 525 are for the Integrated Special Education Program (PPKI). Selangor has recorded the highest number of projects with 143, followed by Kedah with 93 and Johor with 47.

In Terengganu, 14 educational development and asset management projects, valued at RM34.03 million, were completed ahead of schedule. These projects include multipurpose halls, modular IBS units, additional classrooms, and various maintenance and upgrading works. The handover ceremony was led by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Public Works Minister Ahmad Maslan.
