Malaysia allocates RM807.5 million for 2,102 new classrooms

The Malaysian Ministry of Education has allocated RM807.5 million for 681 projects to construct 2,102 additional classrooms across the country. This initiative aims to meet the needs of Year 1 students for the 2027 Academic Calendar session.

Through the Public Works Department (JKR), RM668 million is designated for 524 projects in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan, involving 1,780 classrooms. This includes 1,255 mainstream classrooms and 525 classrooms for the Special Education Integrated Program (PPKI), intended to accommodate 43,925 mainstream students and 5,250 special education students.

In East Malaysia, Sarawak is undertaking 84 projects to build 210 classrooms at an estimated cost of RM81.5 million, covering 140 mainstream and 70 special education classrooms. Sabah is implementing 73 projects for 112 additional classrooms at a cost of RM58 million, consisting of 92 mainstream and 20 special education classrooms.
