Malaysia Allocates RM9.3 Million to Boost National Track Cycling Programme

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Mordi Bimol announced the allocation of RM9.3 million for the development of Malaysia's track cycling programme. The funding supports the National Cycling Federation’s (PKBM) 10‑year strategic plan, which is being drafted with assistance from technical director John Beasley.

The budget will cover athlete and coach support, training‑centre operations, medical and sports‑science services, and the organisation of domestic and international competitions. It also finances the appointment of a high‑performance coach to raise local coaching standards. In addition, RM3 million of the funding will sponsor the Junior Cycling Malaysia (JCM) series, featuring 820 athletes across four events.

The plan aims to maintain Malaysia’s competitiveness on the world stage, with 13 elite athletes in a podium program, 18 developing athletes in a feeder program, and participation in 21 domestic and overseas events. The National Sports Institute will provide certification and continuous education for coaches as part of the broader high‑performance sport agenda for 2025‑2028.
