Malaysia and Hong Kong strengthen regional business and technology ties
Malaysia and Hong Kong are strengthening economic and technological ties to facilitate regional business expansion across Asia. Hong Kong serves as a gateway to international capital and the Chinese mainland, while Malaysia provides a strategic base for operations within the ASEAN market.
To foster these connections, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) recently led a delegation of 11 companies to Kuala Lumpur. The delegation showcased advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and green technology. The initiative aims to leverage Malaysia’s digital transformation and sustainable investment landscape, supported by national frameworks such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.
A recent business symposium in Kuala Lumpur hosted approximately 1,600 leaders from both regions, facilitating over 300 business-matching meetings. This cooperation follows a trend of Hong Kong-based technology firms expanding into Southeast Asia, with over 100 companies from the HKSTP ecosystem expanding into the region in 2025.
