Malaysia and Singapore police dismantle cross-border prostitution syndicate

The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), in collaboration with the Singapore Police Force (SPF), conducted simultaneous operations in Kuala Lumpur and Johor to dismantle a cross-border prostitution syndicate. The operation, known as ‘Op Noda Rentas Sempadan’, resulted in the arrest of 30 individuals, including one Malaysian citizen and 29 foreign nationals.

Among those detained, nine individuals—comprising seven Chinese nationals, one Singaporean, and one local—are believed to be members of a syndicate wanted by Singaporean authorities. These suspects are facing charges related to the Women’s Charter 1961 and the Penal Code. Preliminary investigations indicate that the Singaporean and four Chinese suspects were also overstaying in Malaysia.

An additional 21 foreign nationals, including citizens from China, Vietnam, and Laos, were arrested for allegedly promoting and managing online prostitution services. Police seized various electronic devices believed to be used in the syndicate's activities. The suspects are currently under remand for investigation under the Penal Code and the Immigration Act.
