Malaysia announces temporary road closures on Penang bridge and Kuching arterial road

The Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (JSAHMS) linking Batu Maung to Batu Kawan will be closed northbound from 8:00 pm on 8 August until 3:00 am the following morning to accommodate the Cultural Night Run 2026. Traffic travelling the opposite direction (Batu Kawan → Batu Maung) will remain open, and motorists heading to the mainland are advised to use the Penang Bridge as an alternative route. In Kuching, sections of Jalan Tun Jugah between the CityOne Mall traffic lights and Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho will be partially closed from 29 July through 31 December 2026. The closure supports construction under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project. Drivers are urged to follow posted diversions, obey speed limits and heed traffic‑management signage.
