Malaysia authorities disrupt multiple major drug trafficking operations

Malaysian authorities have conducted several major operations targeting drug trafficking syndicates involving various types of narcotics. In Selangor, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department seized over 722 kg of drugs, including ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine, and cannabis, with an estimated value of RM43 million. The largest single seizure involved 505.6 kg of ketamine found in a warehouse in Shah Alam, which was reportedly hidden in commercial boxes containing cocoa powder.

In a separate case, police dismantled a smuggling syndicate linked to a Malaysia Airlines co-pilot who was arrested in Indonesia. Six local suspects, aged 23 to 50, were detained in Malaysia after attempting to flee to Thailand and Vietnam. The co-pilot was caught at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with approximately 25 kg of ecstasy pills and methamphetamine, valued at RM45 million.

Additionally, a 62-year-old Malaysian man was detained by customs in Chennai, India, for attempting to smuggle 3.452 kg of hydroponic cannabis. The drugs were discovered concealed in a false bottom of his checked luggage. This follows another recent incident in Chennai where a Malaysian national was caught with over 4 kg of cannabis arriving from Bangkok.
