Malaysia commits $590 million to build 65 MW data centre in Cyberjaya

Malaysia announced a major digital‑infrastructure project in Cyberjaya, Selangor, involving the construction of a new 65‑megawatt data centre with an estimated investment of about $590 million (RM2.5 billion). The facility will use full immersion cooling technology to improve energy efficiency and will be part of a broader plan that includes an artificial‑intelligence coordination centre, an AI‑excellence hub, and a high‑performance computing installation.

The project is being developed by Selangor Industrial Corporation (SIC), a unit of the Selangor Development Corporation, in partnership with Data Centre Union (DC Union). SIC will provide the Cyberjaya landbank and development expertise, while DC Union contributes technical know‑how, funding and industry experience. The venture also aims to train at least 500 Nvidia‑certified engineers each year to support AI, cloud computing and data‑centre operations, aligning with the Selangor Smart State agenda and positioning Malaysia as a regional AI and digital‑infrastructure hub.
