Malaysia cuts retail fuel prices by 5 sen per litre

The Malaysian Ministry of Finance announced that, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism, retail prices for unfunded RON97, RON95 and diesel will be reduced by 5 sen per litre for the period 6 – 12 August 2026. The new rates are RM4.35 for RON97, RM3.77 for RON95 and RM4.57 for diesel, down from RM4.40, RM3.82 and RM4.62 respectively.

Subsidised fuel prices remain unchanged, with RON95 (BUDI95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel (BUDI Diesel) at RM2.10, and the control system rates for petrol and diesel at RM2.05 and RM2.15. The government cited ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, especially risks to supply through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, as a factor in keeping overall petroleum costs volatile. It urged consumers to use fuel prudently and plan travel efficiently to lessen demand and subsidy pressure.
